For the fourth year in a row, The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), in a combined effort with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Center to Protect Workers Rights (CPWR), among other partners, announce the construction Fall Safety Stand-Down during the week of May 7 thru 11, 2018. The Carpenter Training Center held an event at our Elk Grove Village facility on May 7, 2018. This event offered our apprentices and members an opportunity to pause in their work and to dedicate time towards activities that promoted the prevention of fatalities from falls.  Larry Joswiak, OSHA Assistant Director of the Chicago area, John Horak, CRCC’s Safety Director and Daniel Judd from MSA presented on fall safety statistics, how to be safer at work and the latest material offered to help prevent unnecessary deaths from falls.
