Floor Coverer

Floor Coverers install different types of flooring and floor covering in both residential and commercial buildings. They work with carpeting, hardwood flooring, soft tiles and linoleum-type products made of vinyl and rubber. They cut, fit and install hardwood flooring and various types of underlayment to ensure smooth, level surfaces for the finished floor. They also scribe, cut, fit layout and seam tile and sheet stock in a variety of patterns. Floor coverers are also skillful in cutting, binding, sewing and installing carpet. Before the finished floor is installed, floor prep is done which may include applying self-leveling grout, installing moisture barriers, applying glue, or installing padding.
